“Country of registration” is the country in which the network is registered, not your location. We deliberately do not show a location: it would often be wrong by many kilometres.

Good to know

What is my IP address?

Your public IP address is the address under which your connection appears on the internet. All devices behind your router usually share this one address. In your home network, the devices also have private addresses such as 192.168.178.20, which are not visible from outside.

Why does my IP change?

Most home connections get a dynamic address that changes when you reconnect or at regular intervals. Static addresses are mainly available with business plans.

IPv4 or IPv6?

IPv4 addresses consist of four numbers, IPv6 addresses of eight blocks of hexadecimal numbers. Many connections have both. With “DS-Lite” you share the IPv4 address with other customers of the provider; port forwarding over IPv4 is then not possible.

What does my IP reveal?

The address reveals your provider and roughly the region, but not your name or postal address. Only the provider knows this link, and only discloses it in cases regulated by law.

The registry information comes from the RDAP databases of the Regional Internet Registries and from RIPEstat (RIPE NCC). For this, the queried address is transmitted to these bodies; we do not store it ourselves. More in the privacy policy.
