Visiting the website

When you access the website, our hosting provider processes technically necessary data in server log files (IP address, time, page accessed, browser information) in order to deliver the website and protect it against attacks. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. The hosting provider is ALL-INKL.COM – Neue Medien Münnich, Inhaber: René Münnich, Hauptstraße 68, 02742 Friedersdorf; we have a data processing agreement with them.

We do not use analytics or advertising cookies or tracking tools, and we do not load content from third-party servers. On the pages for managing your notifications, we set a technically necessary session cookie to protect the form (§ 25 Abs. 2 Nr. 2 TDDDG); it is deleted when you close the browser.

E-mail notification

If you sign up for outage alerts, we process your e-mail address and your selection of services in order to send you outage and all-clear notifications. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). We use the double opt-in procedure: you are only added after clicking the link in the confirmation e-mail. To be able to prove consent, we store the times of sign-up and confirmation as well as the shortened IP address (for IPv4 without the last number, for IPv6 only the first 48 bits) (Art. 6(1)(c) and (f) GDPR).

We delete unconfirmed sign-ups after 48 hours. Using the link in every e-mail, you can change your selection or unsubscribe; we then delete your address and selection immediately. We keep sent e-mails in the sending log for up to 30 days. E-mails are sent via our hosting provider’s mail server.

User reports “I have a problem too”

We store the time of the report and a short value (hash) generated from your IP address and a key that changes daily. It only serves to prevent duplicate reports and does not allow any conclusions to be drawn about your IP address. We do not store the IP address itself. We delete reports after 7 days. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (protection against manipulation).

Suggestions

If you submit or support a suggestion, we process your e-mail address in order to let you know when the suggestion has been implemented. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you give via the confirmation link (double opt-in). As proof, we store the times and the shortened IP address. After the implementation e-mail, or if we reject the suggestion, we delete the link between your address and the suggestion; unconfirmed entries after 48 hours. We do not publish the text of your suggestion; the public list only shows a title written by us and the number of votes.

Updates about new portals

If you also tick the box “occasionally inform me about new portals and features” and confirm via the link, we will send you an e-mail about new features of Portal-Check at most once or twice a month. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, § 7 Abs. 2 Nr. 2 UWG). We store your address for this purpose until you unsubscribe from the updates. Every e-mail contains an unsubscribe link; after unsubscribing, we delete the address unless you still have outage alerts. Consent is voluntary and is not a condition for outage alerts or suggestions.

Tools “My IP”, DNS lookup and e-mail check

“My IP” shows the IP address with which your browser reaches our server and adds information from public registries. For this, our server transmits the address to the responsible Regional Internet Registry (in Europe RIPE NCC, Amsterdam) and to RIPEstat (RIPE NCC) and looks up the hostname via DNS. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; our legitimate interest is providing the information you requested. We do not store your address. We store lookup results for up to 7 days, but only for entire networks (IPv4: /24, IPv6: /48), not for individual addresses.

For the DNS lookup and the e-mail check, we transmit the domain name you entered in encrypted form to public DNS resolvers (Google, Cloudflare, Quad9, DNS4EU, AdGuard, Mullvad, Cisco OpenDNS, CIRA) or to the name servers responsible for the domain. Your IP address is not passed on. We do not store your input.

Protection against abuse

To protect forms against mass abuse, we count requests per connection using the same short value that changes daily and delete the counters after 2 days (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Your rights

You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection, as well as the right to withdraw consent at any time with effect for the future.
